About the program

The Stanislaw M. Ulam Distinguished Scholar award enables a noted scientist to spend an extended period at CNLS, collaborate with Laboratory researchers, and give a short series of lectures in the scholar's field of expertise.

The program honors Stanislaw Ulam, whose work helped establish the intellectual foundations of nonlinear science, computation, and complex-systems research at Los Alamos. Since 1985, Ulam Scholars have created sustained collaborations across mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computation, engineering, and Earth and space science.
