Mathematical Problems in Network Data Analysis for Cyber Defense

Andrew

his talk presents a view of some mathematical problems posed by modelling of large-scale IP networks for detection and understanding of network devices, botnets and other malicious activity. I will discuss the challenges we see in applying data science techniques to these problems, including ways to encode the graph structure through spectral methods and the significance time evolution plays in our understanding.
