This talk will describe ongoing work on solving optimization problems designed to address key questions centered on "batteries", such as location and sizing, and policies used to operate batteries to respond to errors in renewable forecast. A key concern is how to model "attribuiton" of battery response to errors in the forecast of output of specific renewable sites. The work, so far, allows us to rapidly solve problems on systems with a few thousand buses, but much remains to be done. The talk will explore a number of open technical issues. Joint work with PhD students Gonzalo Munoz and Shuoguang Yang, and visitor Carsten Matke (NextEnergy, Germany). Host: Michael Chertkov |
