Thursday, June 16, 20162:00 PM - 2:10 PMCNLS Conference Room (TA-3, Bldg 1690) Student Seminar Theoretical investigation of group IV and V related 2D materials Gaoxue Wang Since the discovery of graphene, two-dimensional (2D) materials have been extensively studied because of their novel properties and important technological applications. Recently, group V elemental monolayers, such as phosphorene, arsenene and antimonene join the 2D material family. Theoretical modeling based on density functional theory plays a significant role in both predicting novel 2D materials and understanding their properties. In this talk, I will present our theoretical studies on group IV and V related 2D materials. The degradation of phosphorene in air, the prediction of stable allotropes of antimonene and carbon phosphide monolayers will be discussed.
