Transport in peripheral regions of turbulent flows

Vladimir Lebedev
Landau Institute, Russia

I consider transport of passive scalar (say, gas pollutions) and of inertial particles (say, dust) inside the viscous sublayer of a turbulent flow realized near a wall. The first problem is characterized by strong intermittency. We reveal the structure of events behind the intermittency and find exponents characterizing space dependence of the passive scalar moments. In the framework of the second problem we examine the probability distribution of particles in the coordinate-momentum space. The most amazing feature of this distribution is the confinement transition occurring at diminishing elasticity of particle collisions with the wall.
