Guiding-center Fokker-Planck Collision Operator and its Applications in Classical and Neoclassical Transport Processes

Alain J. Brizard
Saint Michael's College

Classical and neoclassical transport theory normally relies on an iterative solution of moment equations of the Fokker-Planck equation. In this last lecture, we present the Lie-transform construction of a guiding-center Fokker-Planck collision operator, which explicitly includes spatial friction and diffusion terms that describe classical and neoclassical transport processes.
