BrizardSaint Michael's College Classical and neoclassical transport theory normally relies on an iterative solution of moment equations of the Fokker-Planck equation. In this last lecture, we present the Lie-transform construction of a guiding-center Fokker-Planck collision operator, which explicitly includes spatial friction and diffusion terms that describe classical and neoclassical transport processes.
