By considering the two-dimensional quantum Kondo-Heisenberg lattice model we highlight the central role of long-range electron hopping in stabilizing the antiferromagnetic Kondo state. Thus, our results provide an experimentally verifiable insight into quantum criticality in heavy-fermion materials.
