Quantum localization on strings

Eric Bittner
John and Rebecca Moores Professor Department of Chemistry University of Houston, Houston, TX

I will discuss our recent work on developing a quantum model of exciton and charge localization and dynamics in organic polymer based heterojunctions. Using the Frenet Serret equations, we derive an effective one dimensional Schrodinger equation for a quantum particle bound to a flexible curve in 3D. I will discuss some results and implications of the model.
