Passive scalar contours

Marija Vucelja
Physics of Complex Systems, Weizmann Institute of Science

A new direction appeared in 2D turbulence. Recent discoveries in mathematics, the so called Schramm Loewner Evolution (SLE), allowed to characterize the isolines of vorticity in the inverse cascade in 2D. In this project we choose to look at a passive scalar in Kraichnan model and Batchelor regime and try to characterize its isolines. I plan to report on preliminary results and review the motivation that initiated this project.
