High-Level Overview of the HDF5 Library and Tools

Quincey Koziol
HDF Group, Chicago, IL

HDF5 is a data model, library, and file format for storing and managing data. It supports an unlimited variety of datatypes, and is designed for flexible and efficient I/O and for high volume and complex data. HDF5 is portable and is extensible, allowing applications to evolve in their use of HDF5. The HDF5 Technology suite includes tools and applications for managing, manipulating, viewing, and analyzing data in the HDF5 format. Quincey will present a high-level overview of the HDF5 library and tools, and The HDF Group (the non-profit company founded to support and maintain HDF5). This will include recent developments in the HDF5 package and plans for future features. Time will be allowed for questions and discussion, and direct users of HDF5 technologies, as well of users of software built on top of HDF5, will be encouraged to share their successes, challenges, and requests.

Host: John Bent, HPC -5
