LIFE IN SCIENCE

Hans Frauenfelder
T-6

Students and postdocs in science look forward and imagine what they will contribute to science. Senior scientists look backwards and ask "What have I contributed to science and have I educated and challenged students and postdocs?" The first paper where I was a coauthor and which described a nuclear physics experiment was published in 1947. Since then I have worked in different fields, supervised 60 Ph.D. students, and met and interacted with many brilliant scientists. I will sketch my own random walk through physics and talk about the great people that I was privileged to meet.
