We show that a single impurity embedded in a bosonic Mott insulator is a novel polaron that exhibits correlated motion with an effective mass and a linear size that diverge near a critical value of the on-site impurity-boson interaction strength by analytical calculations as well as numerical calculations. We show that this system can be realized and controlled in cold atom optical lattices. Host: Peter Loxley, loxley@lanl.gov |
