Multi-scale entanglement renormalization ansatz (MERA) in 2D

Jacek Dziarmaga
Jagelonnian University, Poland

MERA is an efficient algorithm to find ground states of strongly correlated spin systems. Its power comes from an improved real space renormalization group where block spins are disentangled before each decimation step. I will make general introduction to the subject and then discuss applications of MERA to two-dimensional (2D) spin systems.
