Regenerative communication channels

Mariia Sorokina
Aston University

Since Shannon derived the seminal linear Shannon limit, it has commonly been considered as a fundamental bound on the channel capacity. All-optical regeneration, being a new type of constructive nonlinearity, drives attention as fast and efficient mitigation of signal distortions. I will overview the Shannon capacity for regenerative communication channels and derived regenerative Shannon limit. We will discuss a procedure for optimization and design of regenerative channel models.
