On behalf of Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Organization Committee, I would like to invite you to contribute to the 8^th International Electrokinetics Conference (ELKIN 2008) to be held in the beautiful historic city of Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, 18-23 May 2008.  Focused on Bridging the Fundamental and Applied Aspects of Electrokinetics, ELKIN 2008 will cover a wide range of timely and crucial topics in theoretical and applied Electrokinetics.  The conference will take place at The Bishop’s Lodge Ranch Resort and Spa where magnificent natural beauty, history and authenticity blend to provide a soothing, yet simulating atmosphere for interaction and productive networking among attendees. Since its inception in 1993, the ELKIN conference series has established itself as an unparalleled venue for premier scientists, researchers and technologists working in fields related to Electrokinetics and Colloid and Interface Sciences- ELKIN 2008 will be no exception.

ELKIN 2008 is the first meeting after the loss of one of our ELKIN community’s main pillars, Prof. Dudley A. Saville (1933-2006), and coincides with the 200-Year anniversary of the first known published paper on Electroosmosis and Electrophoresis by the great scientist Ferdinand Friedrich Reuß (1778-1852).  In tribute to their great contributions to the advancement of Electrokinetics, ELKIN 2008 is dedicated to these two great scientists.
