Since the discovery of the isotope effect in superconductive metals in 1950, the Frohlich-Bardeen attractive electron-phonon interaction has been regarded as responsible for superconductivity.  In some materials this connection is well established, while in others (such as ceramic oxides) it is still controversial.

This workshop will re-examine the question in the light of recent experiments and theories, continuing the discussions held at Santa Fe (1992) and Erice (1997). Subjects covered will also include intermetallic alloys and compounds, fullerenes, transition metal chalcogenides, and oxides.
