SECURITY (IMPORTANT)

This conference is open to the interested public. Because of this we are able to host non-LANL participants without going through the strict approval process. DO NOT go to the Badge Office for a security badge unless you have made other arrangements to visit other organizations while at the conference. A conference attendee badge will be issued at the conference. There are some restrictions when using this process and these will be explained at the meeting.

MAPS & DIRECTIONS

Los Alamos National Laboratory provides a collection of useful maps of the local area and the laboratory area. Specific directions that may be useful:

From Albuquerque International Airport : From the airport terminal, take the exit to I-25 North to Santa Fe . Take the St. Francis Drive Exit 282 off I-25 North. You will remain on St. Francis Drive through Santa Fe . As you exit Santa Fe , you will be on US 84/285 north to Pojoaque. At Pojoaque, turn onto NM 502 (follow signs for Los Alamos); remain on NM 502 for approximately 5 miles, and take the exit to Los Alamos for approximately 5 miles into the Los Alamos town site. This route takes approximately 1.5-2 hours of driving time.

Scenic Route from Albuquerque International Airport : Take I-25 north to Bernalillo. Turn northwest on NM 44 and follow until San Ysidro. At San Ysidro, take NM 4 and follow it until Los Alamos . There are many places to stop along the scenic route 4.. This route takes approximately 2-2.5 hours of driving time. There are many places to stop along the scenic route 4.

From Santa Fe : Take US 84/285 north to Pojoaque. At Pojoaque, turn west on NM 502; follow NM 502 into Los Alamos . Travel time from Santa Fe to Los Alamos is approximately 45 minutes.

When making reservations please let the hotel know your are traveling to Los Alamos on official Lab business and would like the gov't per diem rate, or lower if available. The per diem rate for Los Alamos is $71 + tax per night. This is the maximum rate for travel reimbursement for supported participants.

TRANSPORTATION

Albuquerque is the major air terminal. Los Alamos may be reached from Albuquerque International Airport by a scenic two-hour drive. Rental cars are available at the Albuquerque airport through all major companies. Budget Rental Cars offers one-way service to Los Alamos in addition to daily or weekly rentals. The Laboratory has a contract (Contract Number: T453800) with Budget which provides liability, collision and loss coverage on all official Laboratory rentals at NO EXTRA COST. Travelers should DECLINE coverage when offered, as the purchase of additional insurance is not necessary and cannot be reimbursed by the Laboratory.
