Some recent findings about the geometrical properties of isolevel loops in two-dimensional turbulent flows are presented. It is shown that isovorticity lines in the inverse cascade of 2D Navier-Stokes turbulence are conformally invariant curves (SLE_6) belonging to the same class of universality of interfaces in critical percolation. As a second example, isotemperature lines in the inverse cascade of Surface Quasi Geostrophic turbulence are shown to be conformally invariant (SLE_4) within the universality class of loops in the O(2) spin model. It is also shown that isolevel lines in the direct cascade of 2D Navier-Stokes turbulence are not conformally invariant. Host: Misha Chertkov
