The FY 2016 CNLS Colloquium series is in progress and CNLS is scheduling speakers for this fiscal year (2016) and next. Angel Garcia (CNLS), Sebastian Deffner (T-4), Cristina Garcia Cardona (CCS-3), Youfang Cao (T-6), Amanda Neukirch (T-1), Jeffrey Hyman (EES-16), Anatoly Zlotnik (T-4), and Harsha Nagarajan (DSA-4). We host speakers who are outstanding scientists with a broad vision of their field and capable of delivering a comprehensive lecture addressing an audience with multi-disciplinary scientific interests; both experimentalists and theoreticians. Selected speakers will dedicate some amount of their time during the visit (including a postdoc lunch) for meeting with CNLS postdocs and affiliated staff scientists. The research interests of the nominee will cover, but will not be limited to, the fields of particular CNLS activity such as statistical physics and complex systems, fluid dynamics, optics and spectroscopy, condensed matter, chemical physics, biological physics, and applied math. The research interests of the nominee should cover (but not be limited to) the fields well represented within T-Division such as statistical physics and complex systems, fluid dynamics, optics and spectroscopy, condensed matter, chemical physics, biological physics, and applied math. In keeping with the CNLS traditions, the colloquium will be held at the CNLS conference room on Mondays from 3 to 4 PM. Its schedule will be posted on the CNLS website: http://cnls.lanl.gov/External/colloquia.php. Speaker expenses including the travel, per diem, hotel accommodation for two/three day visit will be reimbursed through the CNLS colloquium fund, but should typically not exceed $1300. All expenses should follow DOE Federal travel guidelines. Usually, the person nominating the speaker will be responsible for initiating visitor paperwork through the CNLS Office, and hosting the speaker during his/her visit at LANL. A CNLS Visitor Request can be submitted online at http://cnls.lanl.gov/External/visitorrequest.php. Please contact the committee via email at cnls-colloq@lanl.gov with any questions you may have.
